Louis XVI commode by Nicolas Petit
The grey marble top above three quater veneered drawers, canted corners, with ormolu mounts, on tapered legs with ormolu shoes.
Nicolas Petit was appointed Master on the 21st of January 1761, he opened his workshop in the Faubourg Sainte Antoine street. His popularity grew and he became a representative for his corporation in 1784. He has realized a large number of very different pieces of furniture for 30 years. He constantly needed to renew his style and vary his creations in every way: marquetry and bronze design, wood species, furniture size. Every piece stamped Nicolas Petit is unique.
