A Dutch transition coiffeuse

Rectangular top with canted corners with a marquetry of a bust on a vase-shaped stand flaked by various urns and jugs below a lambrequin and drapery. The hinged central panel top enclosing an easled toilet mirror and flanked to each side by a hinged compartment with green fabric lining. The front with five drawers and a sliding green fabric lined writing panel. The front and sides with a marquetry of an urn in an oval ribbon-tied medallion. On four cabriole legs with ormolu sabots.

Two closely related pieces of furniture are known, possibly made on commission at the time as an ensuite. A secretaire, now in a Dutch private collection, and a commode in the collection of Museum Smidt van Gelder in Antwerp.
